Pool Location: Home meets will take place in our neighborhood. Away meets will be at pools in our community--the addresses for those meets are listed under the event and job sign-up tab
Warm Ups: Please arrive at the pool on time for all meets. For home meets, pool set-up will begin at 4:00pm and warm-ups will be at 5:00pm. For away meets, swimmers are expected to arrive at the pool no later than 5:15 so they can be in the pool at 5:30 for warm-ups. The meet will begin at 6:00pm and spectators are welcome to come cheer everyone on.
Sportsmanship: Our team highly values sportsmanship. After each event swimmers are encouraged to shake hands with the people in the lanes next to them and congradulate them no matter the team they are on.
Points/Ribbons: Each event will have two swimmers from each team racing for points, to ensure fairness of scoring. The two points swimmers will be placed 1st through 4th and recieve a corresponding ribbon. Additional swimmers in each event will be marked as exhibition. These swimmers will still recieve ribbons and their times are eligible to qualify for the championship meet at the end of the season, but their swim will not earn any points for the overall team score. If a swimmer DQ's, it is up to the home team to determine whether participation ribbons will be given out.
Arm Markings and Reading Time Cards:
Many swimmers choose to have their arms marked with the event, heat, and lane of their events to help remind them when they need to line up behind the blocks. This would be displayed on the arm as follows:
Before each race begins, an announcer will announce the event and heat of the race the meet is on. Each event in the meet is assigned a number i.e. Event #9 is Boys 6 & under 25m freestyle. The heat will be determined by the number of swimmers participating in each event, so some events may have multiple rounds of swimmers.
